A night on the Toon has been recognised as the UK's number one attraction in the sixth edition of the Rough Guide to Britain, proving that northerners really do know how to party.
Topping the list of 35 British attractions, a knees-up with the Geordies apparently beats surfing in Newquay and shopping in Leeds.
It also tops a visit to Buckingham Palace, which is described as "a palace that's as bland as it's possible to be".
Newcastle's vibrant nightlife attracts visitors from all over the world, and whatever night of the week partygoers choose to venture out it's guaranteed to be a lively affair.
According to the new guide, the north-east city is "England's premier arts and nightlife destination", offering a "scintillating quayside of bridges, bars, galleries and concert halls".
Birmingham was also named in the guide as having "one of Britain's best club scenes."

Shackleton's advert for people to join his expedition: 'Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter cold. Long hours of complete darkness. Constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in the event of success.'
